Super bloom of yellow flowers (black mustard) from the sky
These hills located just south of my home airport was cleared for fire last year and now have super bloom of black mustard flowers. These mustards were internationally scattered by Spanish missionary in 1700s to mark their way of missions. It is now called “El Camino Real” commemorative 600 miles route along California coast.

Wired Landing Experience
Переглядів 1,8 тис.3 місяці тому
It was a bit wired experience today. It was not windy nor gusting. My gyro was pushed backward right after it stopped on the runway. I had to add some engine power to reverse the movement. I applied a bit too much flare and hit the keel on the ground. Was it the reason ?

I flew over the green fields on the southwest and came back to the valley where airport is located, then, continued to the east about 30 miles along the valley to Magic Mountain Park. Enjoy my entire flight over beautiful spring fields with a relaxed music. Hope you can enjoy your morning coffee or even getting in afternoon nap.

    My beautiful backyard, which I’ve hiked many times. Sad that climatologists and glaciologists tell us that they’ll be no more glaciers in Olympic National Park by 2070. They’ve been receding for the past hundred years, and we have plenty of photos which verify that. Thanks for this footage!

      @@HenryGyroLife You can do really cool things with inertia in the rotors. My instructor - he taught me to build my wood rotors was being teased about having old fashioned wood rotors. So he descended steeply from about 200ft with power at idle in his gyro hauled to a dead stop at 20ft above the strip in front of them. After a couple of seconds hovering he zapped on full power and climbed out without losing any height. The tip weights alone on a gyro are equivalent to about a tonne of inertia. If you REALLY know what you are doing you can do some remarkable stuff. Another time he did a steep approach and landed in front of his hanger dead stop and knowing he still had heaps of energy hauled in full back stick and blipped the power (quite a bit) kicking the rudder full left. It reared up on the tailwheel and did a 90 degree turn so he was now facing the hanger. He then stepped out and pushed it in (after the blades stopped), a fixed wing guy nearby was collecting flies in his mouth his jaw was so wide. Not something I'd be game to try.

  • @jasonrwilkinson9216
    @jasonrwilkinson9216 3 місяці тому

    Yep Henry you just flared hard and increased rotor RPM then with the rotor disk tilted back and aircraft on the tailwheel the rotor thrust pushed you backwards, you did right to flatten the rotors and add a bit of power.
